Balqis Capital, leader in private market credit, has revealed a bat sponsorship deal with England cricketer Liam Livingstone.
The news comes just hours after Liam was snapped up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The team bought him for 8.75 crore in the IPL auction yesterday.
Balqis Capital leaders today confirmed the deal and their support for the 31-year-old Cumbrian all-rounder in a 12-month deal. Liam is currently ranked the number one ICC IT20 all-rounder and captained the England ODI side during their 2024 tour of the West Indies.
Livingstone also plays for Lancashire, Birmingham Phoenix and Pretoria Capitals in South Africa and has played for Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings in the IPL.
Balqis Capital global sales director Arron Lilley said they were excited and extremely proud to be collaborating with such a global cricketing superstar.
He said: “At Balqis we have a huge passion for sport and we are excited to support Liam with this sponsorship deal.
“We are always looking for ways we can partner with athletes on their journeys through sponsorship and collaboration. This also includes working with them on what we do best – sourcing private credit projects. We have worked with several athletes as clients over the years, we specialise in working with advisers and high net worth individuals, so it seems the perfect synergy,” he added.
Private credit is a financial arrangement where an external party provides the capital needed to pursue a business venture or a legal case in exchange for a share of the proceeds if the business or case is successful. This type of funding is commonly used in high-value legal cases, such as commercial disputes, intellectual property cases, or class actions, where the legal costs are substantial.
Private credit offers businesses and individuals faster access to capital, more customised loan terms and alternative underwriting requirements compared to traditional bank loans. This is especially valuable for companies with unique or complex financing needs, such as high-growth firms or those undergoing restructurings. Private credit is growing in popularity as a portfolio opportunity as it offers attractive yields in a low-interest-rate environment.
